An MOT test is required to ensure that your vehicle is safe, roadworthy and complies with EU exhaust emissions limits.

At Greenend Motors Edinburgh we test to both Class 4 and Class 7

Class 4 includes Cars & light vans (up to 3000 Kg), Ambulances and taxis and Private Passenger Vehicles & Ambulances (9-12 Passenger Seats).

Class 7 includes light commercial goods vehicles weighing between 3 and 3.5 tonnes.

Depending on your vehicle type an MOT test must be carried out after it reaches a certain age.

Cars and Light Vans - 3 years

Ambulances and Taxis - 1 year

Private Passenger Vehicles - 1 year

MOT Certificate

A valid MOT certificate is required in order to apply for road tax.

It is illegal to drive a vehicle on public roads without a current valid MOT certificate, with the exception of driving to or from a booked MOT test.
